John’s background as a veteran, police officer and PA PUC Motor Carrier Enforcement Officer brings to the table an extensive array of knowledge in the transportation industry’s compliance and safety arenas. Adding to his expertise, he served in the capacity of York Township’s Public Works Director & Township Manager. In 2006 John was awarded the prestigious Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration/Pennsylvania Public Service Commission’s Partners in Safety Award.

Kurt Kauffman

Kurt began his association with J. Bumsted & Associates in 2019. He brings 41 years of experience in Law Enforcement and Transportation Safety. Retiring from the Commonwealth of PA after 37 years of service, Kurt began his career with the PA Capitol Police. He spent 3 years with Harrisburg International Airport Police and was a Driver License Examiner for the State Police for 6 years – the last 2 years dedicated full time his to administering CDL tests. In 1993 he was promoted to Driver License Center Supervisor in Lebanon .

In 1998 he transferred to the PA Public Utility Commission Bureau of Investigation and Enforcement Motor Carrier Enforcement Division where he worked as an Enforcement Officer until 2008 when he was promoted to the Harrisburg District Enforcement Supervisor. In 2012 he was promoted to Eastern Regional Enforcement Manager supervising the Harrisburg and Scranton District offices.
